What's new at Legacy?

I've been terribly remiss in updating the News segment of this website. Until I publish full releases, here are some updates on the company, the owner (that would be me!), and some of my fantastic clients.

* Duckey and the Ocean Protectors, which I co-authored with John Sexton and Writers of the Round Table, and which was beautifully illustrated by Maciej Zajak, has been published and is garnering stellar reviews on Amazon. For example, from A. Armstrong:

"Ever since Harry Potter, I have been entranced with juvenile fiction. Duckey and the Ocean Protectors took me on such a fantastic adventure, I couldn't put the book down! As a parent, I not only learned of ways to help my daughter nurture and take care of the environment around her, but I also found ways to inspire her to grow and be a good person and to know that we all have special talents, we just have to keep trying to do our best and those talents will shine through. She's only 5, but I've been reading the book to her at night and she loves it!"

A comparison to Harry Potter? We'll take it! We're also holding an eco-essay contest for kids. The winning entrant will have a character inspired by his or her essay included in our next book! I'm excited to be a co-judge, along with John and our publishing team. Get more info on the contest here!

* I am one of the voices for Gear Live Media's new women's blog, Girl Snark! Gear Live is one of the Web's top 20,000 sites and receives 1.5 million unique visitors every month. With Vicky Lane covering love and relationships and Colleen McKie reporting on health, I'll be blogging about all things fashion and beauty. Go check out the site, leave your thoughts, and join the dialogue!

* Two Legacy authors, Robert Widders and Brittany Simon, will soon be publishing their first books! Rob is the last man alive to have served in all three branches of the English armed services. His memoir, A Few Deeds Short of a Hero, recounts "...his life from childhood through naval service in the NATO rapid response Atlantic Squadron during the Cold War, through Army military manoeuvres in Germany and active service in RAF Field Hospitals during the Gulf War. Through his life-long service and brief period AWOL, for which he served military imprisonment, he paints a colourful picture of both the boredom and tragedy of war interspersed with the shenanigans of a young man sliding towards alcoholism, and a penchant for feats of physical endurance including running the Bahrain Marathon and expeditions to both the Sahara and Mount Everest base camp. Widders has emerged on the other side of conflict and a life shaped by the military as a balanced individual despite the trials of war. He maintains his experiences have only made him stronger." Rob's book is published by Quartet Books, Ltd. He is currently at work on a second book. Congratulations, Rob!

Meanwhile, Brittany's We are the Youth of the Nation is an opinionated collection of young voices chiming in on tough topics from abortion to immigration to the media's influence on society. Under 20 years old, Brittany has intelligence and charmisma to spare. Congratulations, Brittany!
